My European client based in Luton seeks an experienced Business Development Manager to represent the company with all new business and existing customer accounts. Working with professionals in the automatic identification market you must have a proven track record of selling related hardware and software solutions.

The candidate will have the ability to write specifications and interface with the development team on feasibility and cost development whilst progressing the sale forward to specification and order. Whilst having a good understanding of thermal transfer and consumable supply the candidate may also have a good knowledge of specialist labelling. A Proven background in technical sales is desirable and ability to prove account management ability.

Overview of Role

  • Responsibility to ensure that targets are reached or exceeded on an annual basis
  • Ensure all existing customers are called on a regular basis and ensure all leads are followed up in a timely manner.
  • Create and action a call plan for existing customers
  • Identify cross selling opportunities within existing accounts
  • Provide reports profiling customers and identifying new opportunities within the account.
  • Write outline proposals / raise quotations based on customer requirements
  • Identify new markets
  • Work with internal sales team to identify new business accounts that require visits
  • Manage diary with assistance from the internal sales team
  • Always be available to work from the Houghton Regis office on a Monday and Friday unless prior agreement from General Manager
  • Provide prospect reports including monthly sales estimates at sales meetings
  • Provide visit reports to General Manager promptly following visits

Skills Required

  • Must have an understanding of the barcoding industry
  • Must have the ability to understand technical requirements from customers
  • Must be able to make recommendations based on the customer requirements
  • Must be able to transpose those recommendations into outline proposals
  • Must be able to work with the technical department to define proposals
  • Must be able to create / manage existing customer call plan
  • Must be able to make / confirm own appointments
  • Must be able to identify new markets
  • Must have a good understanding of Thermal Transfer printing systems
  • Should have an understanding of consumables / ideally good understanding
  • Must have a good understanding of Mobile Computing products
  • Must have a good understanding of Barcode Scanning products
  • Must be able to negotiate with customers and suppliers to achieve correct pricing
  • Must be able to manage and maintain prospect list
