Account Manager: Accountancy Solutions - Scotland

My client – an ambitious software house delivering award winning mid tier solutions – is looking for a goal oriented team player who is looking for a long term career in Business Solutions Sales to join their Account Management Sales Team.

As an Account Manager you will reside and manage customer accounts in the Scottish region, working alongside the existing Account Management team. You will be assigned to the Scottish Regional office and report to the Regional Managing Director and you will be responsible for account managing your allocated accounts.

You will be expected to keep in regular contact with every assigned account and for those where there is potential you will undertake a complete top down and bottom up needs analysis and assess their requirements for additional solutions. You will demonstrate suitable solutions to the needs uncovered and produce high quality proposals and close the sales. The role incorporates an element of customer service as you will need to be concerned about the account’s well being. A high level of product knowledge is absolutely essential with an understanding of what third party software can be utilised to provide the best possible solution to the customer.

The role is office based but travel to the prospects or client’s site is a normal occurrence as part of the role. You will be expected to work variable hours to meet the demands of the job and the requirements of your accounts. Salary is commensurate with experience, no overtime is payable, commission is due based on gross profit achieved and the role includes a car (or car allowance), contributory pension, a laptop and a mobile phone.

Essential Skills:

  • Based in Scotland with a knowledge of the local geography and local business cultures
  • Solutions led software sales track record where the ability to sell a solution to a business problem outweighs your ability to sell a product through the demonstration of its features
  • Previous experience should consist of a proven track record of selling solutions such as Access, Sage, Exchequer, Great Plains or Navision. The minimum desirable length of relevant experience is 18-24 months.A motivated self starter, who consistently demonstrates an enthusiastic, never give up, attitude
  • Ability and willingness to work independently or as a team
  • Excellent communication skills with an ability to build rapport at all levels of an organisation
  • Persuasive and compelling in expressing ideas and concepts
  • Strong written communication skills with an attention to details
  • Have good administration skills: you will be required to keep in-house database up to date with pre-sales information and complete FocalPoint feedback functions to ensure good sales reporting
  • Remain calm and polite at all times, even under intense pressure
  • Excellent computer skills specifically with Microsoft Office
  • Have a full driving licence

Key Objectives:

  • Achieve your gross profit sales target in the current Financial Year, this is reviewed annually
  • Proactively contact every account
  • Understand the current and future requirements of your accounts to increase the footprint
  • Have a very good understanding of my client’s SME software and relevant 3rd party products
  • Be responsible for developing your own demonstration skills and know when to call for assistance
  • Respond to enquiries quickly and efficiently and provide feedback to cultivate the rest of the team
  • Build a good relationship with the accounts and nurture every opportunity
  • Host meetings at all levels with accounts
  • Once a sale is made, ensure a smooth handover to the projects team
  • Provide the highest level of customer service and technical expertise to customers at all times
  • You may be required to attend exhibitions, host seminars, present sales ideas or attend meetings in support of other salespeople which may include several nights away from home
