TRAINEE CLIENT ACCOUNTANT
1. MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
To prepare accurate Year End Service Charge and Statutory Accounts in line with current legislation timeframes.
2. POSITION IN ORGANISATION
Reporting to the Senior Client Accounts Manager
3. SCOPE OF JOB
- To fully understand the complexity of the development and to liaise with the Property Manager and Regional Property Manager or Director
- Analyse costs against budget and apply accruals and prepayments where applicable
- Prepare and review draft accounts with the Property Manager for ultimate sign off by the Regional Property Manager or Director
- Adjust year-end accounts with any resulting amendments
- Calculation of the breakdown of Developer Empty Property Costs as required
- Where necessary liaise with the Developer to bring the accounts to a satisfactory conclusion and subsequent audit
- To liaise with the developer client with regard to any end of year adjustments, particularly taking into account any earlier on-account payments
- Preparation of adjustments due to/from the residents from the balancing of the Service Charge Accounts
- Provide audit pack to the auditors
- Liaising with auditors to resolve queries
- Correspond, were necessary, with Resident Directors, forwarding final accounts for approval
- Respond to resident queries in relation to the accounts
- Any other ad-hoc duties as required by the Client Account Managers
PERSON SPECIFICATION
1. QUALIFICATIONS
GCSE Grade C or above or equivalent in Maths and English
Minimum AAT qualified or within the final year of study
2. EXPERIENCE
Experience working within an accounting environment producing monthly management accounts or annual accounts,
3. KNOWLEDGE
Accounting knowledge to include double entry, accruals, prepayments, and an understanding of final accounts.
4. TECHNICAL SKILLS
Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office
Previous experience of accounting software in particular ECS would be an advantage
5. PERSONAL QUALITIES/BEHAVIOURS
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to work under pressure
Ability to work methodically, accurately and without supervision
